JAARS exists to help make Bible translation and language development possible in remote and difficult places. jaars.org
Bob Dingee has been serving as volunteer in both JAARS Maritime and Land Transportation for the past month, repairing and updating motorcycles, a truck, and some boats. This isn't the first time he's left his home in Ishpeming, Michigan, to give of his time and talents to support the work of Bible translation.
"Bible translation is very important. We take having the Bible for granted, but many people of the world don't have it in their language. I don't have the skills/aptitude to be a front-line worker, but I do have them [the skills and aptitude] to support those that do. In life we learn many skills and talents, so when we retire we need to repurpose them to serve God and His kingdom."
He says, "Be useful where there is a need. God made it clear to me, and put it in my heart that I needed to be available and useful to His kingdom. God has work for each of us to do, some big jobs and some small; if we will be available and willing."
He quotes this verse: "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works which God has prepared in advance for us to do." Ephesians 2:10
