Jaars Center

Serve

Would you like to make a difference in people’s lives? Help people experience God’s Word and His love through the work you do!

Here at JAARS, we have a wide variety of opportunities in multiple departments. We need everyday, hands-on skills, as well as technical, logistical, and professional skills. Our positions are for volunteer or supported staff, and occasionally, paid employees. Below you can learn more about each option.

Internships and Fellowships

Explore. Grow. Build Community!

College students who have completed their sophomore year can develop transferable professional skills through our 10-week project-focused Internship program. Our Fellowship program is an 11-month, merit-based, full-time, professional opportunity that cultivates emerging leaders and provides entry into a first career position.

Apprenticeship

Embark on a transformative journey with our JAARS Apprenticeship designed for aspiring skilled aircraft mechanics and pilots. For up to two years, we will prepare you for impactful service at our overseas hubs, bringing vital aid to the work of proclaiming the gospel to the whole creation.

Aviation

Interested in mission aviation? Watch our videos to see what it’s like, and be sure to check out The Centerline, our e-newsletter packed with tips and stories.

Mission Teams

We also offer many opportunities to bring a mission team from your church to help with needed projects at our campus in Waxhaw, North Carolina.

Refuge 139

If you’d like to serve overseas for up to two weeks, enriching missionary kids’ lives and helping with their unique situations, apply to serve on a Refuge 139 trip.

“We love being able to use the skills and experience God has built into us as part of the JAARS team to make Bible translation happen. We are touching the world from Waxhaw! Amazing!”

– Rebecca Navratil

Volunteer

Why volunteer?

  • Gain a new vision for missions
  • Help unreached people experience God’s Word and His love
  • Build meaningful, potentially lasting relationships
  • Be inspired by staff and their stories from the field
  • Volunteer 20 hours per week

Volunteers fill many key full- and part-time positions, and all jobs are open to them.

Requirements

Supported

What does “supported” mean?

A supported staff person is one who has partners to prayerfully and financially support their ministry and living expenses, either in part or in full.

Paid

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit Christian ministry, we have very few positions that are paid. Work is done almost entirely by volunteers and supported staff.

Generally, positions are paid when unique skills and experience are required, timing is critical, and/or the nature of the position makes it difficult to raise support. When we do have a paid position, we look for someone who has the job skills and will consider the job a ministry.

“What keeps me here? The mission, the people, and the chance to continue to fly! How can one argue with being a direct part of the process that ends up with someone holding Scripture in their own language and knowing the results this can have on their life? How can one argue about working with a singularly focused group of passionate people all sharing this vision, mission, and goal?”
