Aviation Maintenance Technician Fellow


DIRECT SUPERVISOR: AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE MANAGER

The Aviation Maintenance Fellow will play an integral role within the entire Aviation Department. This individual will gain a greater understanding of what it means to maintain aircraft in the context of mission aviation and see the practical impact it has on Scripture Engagement. Some of the professional development opportunities this fellow can expect to receive include:

  • Aircraft/Engine Type Specific Training (Airframe: Quest Kodiak, Robinson R66, and/or Pilatus Porter)(Powerplant: PT-6 and/or Rolls Royce RR300) 
  • A potential 2-3 week overseas trip to perform aircraft maintenance on the field
  • Attendance to the Aviation Technical Conference (ATC) – which is an annual event that brings together all of the JAARS mission aviation programs to discuss the operating standards that JAARS adheres to.

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform aircraft inspections and maintenance within a certificated repair station structure.
  • Learn and grow in understanding of aircraft maintenance controller responsibilities within mission aviation
  • Gain knowledge and experience in aircraft maintenance
  • Obtain mission aviation aircraft and engine type specific training and experience
  • Provide support to overseas mission aviation programs
  • Assist in Public Relations events such as JAARS Days
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by manager

Job Requirements

  • Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate
  • Passport (willing to obtain one)
  • A deep and growing walk with the Lord Jesus that includes your personal spiritual growth and the ability to support others in their spiritual growth
  • Embraces the vision, mission, and core values of JAARS
  • Participate in JAARS drug testing program
  • Strong communication skills & the ability to collaborate effectively with various areas
  • Attention to detail & strategic thinker
  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

Preferred

  • Working experience with Google Suite (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms, etc.) and Microsoft Office
  • Majors include:
    • Aviation Maintenance Technology (AS or BS)
    • Aviation Technology (BS)
    • Aviation Maintenance (AS or BS)
    • Mission Aviation (BS) 
    • Aviation Management
    • Aerospace Administration
    • NOTE: Any degree program is sufficient as long as they have an A&P certificate 
    • NOTE: Life experience is also acceptable. Many of our AMTs have many years of mechanical aptitude building experience that started in their childhood.
