COVID-19 Statement

By Steve Biggerstaff

JAARS Center, Waxhaw, North Carolina

Just a reminder to our friends and neighbors: JAARS staff and our mission partners here in Waxhaw, North Carolina, travel internationally, but no one flies to or from overseas destinations directly using the JAARS airfield.

Our hangar and facilities are not licensed as an international port, nor could they accommodate aircraft that fly internationally. Any international travel by JAARS Center staff—or by global partners coming to Waxhaw—must come through Charlotte Douglas International Airport and will be subject to the same health and security protocols of the United States that are in place across the country.

That said, we are monitoring the COVID-19 situation and are:

  1. refraining from any travel to Level 3 countries
  2. asking anyone recently visiting Level 2 or Level 3 countries to defer visits to the JAARS Center for 2 weeks (symptom-free) afterward
  3. encouraging our staff and families to take all the CDC-recommended precautions (washing hands, covering coughs, staying home when sick, etc.)
  4. monitoring the spread of COVID-19 to determine if more stringent guest-screening protocols are warranted

Like the rest of the Waxhaw and greater Charlotte communities, we are working hard to be good neighbors!
