Bible translators living in remote areas of the world depend on modern
technology. For more than 50 years, JAARS has served these missionaries
with a variety of technical helps. The Missions at the Airport
program brings to the public some of these special helps as well as the
opportunity to experience first-hand how they are being used to serve in
the translation process.
These events are specifically designed to allow people to see and experience some of the technical aspects of Wycliffe Bible Translators and SIL International, and to talk with Wycliffe and JAARS personnel and representatives. You are invited to ride in a JAARS airplane or helicopter to see how some Bible translators get to work. A consent form must be signed for plane rides. If under 18, parent or guardian must sign. Save time! Print and complete the required consent form to bring with you. You can experience the exciting capabilities of the short-take-off-and-landing (STOL) Helio Courier airplane, but you will also learn that JAARS is much more than aviation. You will discover how Bible translators depend on modern technology and other support services to get their jobs done. Explore the challenges of the computer. It is a tool that is essential for language applications in the Bible translation process. View exciting videos, learn from working displays, and pick up attractive and stimulating missions materials for your church, school or home. |
