For Your Visit

Accommodations

  • Housing is available at JAARS base
  • Pricing and reservations: call 704 843 6020 or email housing_jaars@jaars.org.
  • Housing charges separate from ICC Course fees

Transportation

  • JAARS Base is 50 miles from the Charlotte International Airport
  • Contact the volunteer airport group for rides to/from the airport
  • Bring your car seats for rentals or rides
  • Cars, while helpful, are not required for those attending ICC

Food

  • Participants are responsible for meals
  • Base Housing is equipped with kitchen and utensils, dishes, pots, pans
  • Lunches are available Monday to Friday in the JAARS Cafe.
  • Restaurants/Groceries in Waxhaw
  • Snacks, coffee, tea served during ICC breaks

Health Services

JAARS Health Services is available for your use during your stay. The clinic offers immunizations, lab work, and medical consults in preparation for going overseas, which you can schedule before or after ICC. They have very limited hours.

  • Clinic appointments (except for emergencies) should be scheduled before or after the month-long training.
  • Appointments for lab work, immunizations, or other non-emergency medical consultations may not interfere with any part of the ICC schedule. For these services, plan to arrive before ICC or stay after, as you will not be excused from class for these items and will have to reschedule the appointment.

Counseling

Wycliffe professional counseling services are available during ICC to all participants free of charge. ICC staff are also available to you during the course for personal coaching. Contact the counseling staff to arrange an appointment at nanci_erkert@wycliffe.org

Children’s Programs

Babies and Preschool

Babies ages 3 months and younger may be in class with parents. Children ages 3 months through preschool attend MK Station. For more information contact guest.liaison@jaars.org.

Elementary Children

Summer ICC Session: Completed Kindergarten-5th grade: Last Mile Safari. For more information contact guest.liaison@jaars.org.

Winter ICC Session: To enroll children in local schools bring: health records, current immunization records, birth certificate, & Social Security card. Homeschool assistance may be available. For more information contact guest.liaison@jaars.org.

Middle & High School

Summer ICC Session: Completed grades 6-12: Teen ICC. For more information contact icc.jaars@jaars.org
