Summer Safari CoordinatorWould you enjoy running an exciting summer program for kids at JAARS? Mornings only, the Coordinator will plan and oversee the program for 20–35 children and manage the staff. This is a key position, ensuring other adults can continue working or gain important training.

Brief Description

Plan during May and oversee the morning Summer Safari elementary aged program June–August.

  • For a volunteer or a staff person who raises support
  • At least 18 years old
  • Must be able to work in the US
  • This is a 0.5 FTE (20 hrs. a week) May–August position 


  • Develop and implement program activities that are exciting, spiritual, educational, and fun for elementary participants, such as Bible memory, crafts, special guests, and swimming
  • Provide for the progression of activities as the group’s interests and abilities increase
  • Ensure the health, safety, and security of participants and equipment
  • Maintain appropriate behavior standards, respect, and care of participants and discuss any concerns with the Education Coordinator
  • Monitor and keep within monthly budget
  • Supervise the Teacher and Assistant Teacher
  • Demonstrate a deep and growing walk with the Lord Jesus that includes your personal growth and the ability to support others in their spiritual growth
  • Embrace the vision, mission, and core values of JAARS, and help us live them effectively

Education and Experience

  • Work experience in church nurseries/schools, day camps, or daycare settings preferred
  • Ability to lead staff and groups of children
  • Criminal background check, child safety interview, child safeguard review, and professional references required
