Brief Description

Buy primarily for Wycliffe/SIL/JAARS members and entities serving internationally and for the JAARS Center, as needed, to assist or cover for the JAARS Center Buyer.

Responsibilities

  • Check incoming internal and external orders, confirming with missionaries & other entity requests
  • Make purchases to fill confirmed orders, determine urgency and shipment method
  • Check and verify contents of orders delivered to JAARS to fill confirmed orders
  • Receive orders into Navigator or current accounting system
  • Pack received orders for shipment before moving to warehouse
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with vendors
  • Work with vendors for any returns or credits
  • Field questions about orders and shipments via email, phone, and in person
  • Data entry, inventory, account management in Navigator or current accounting system
  • Provide quotes to missionaries/entities that request prices before purchasing
  • Manage any stock items and work with yearly inventory
  • Arrange the delivery of purchased items that need to be picked up
  • Maintain hard and soft copy documentation from all purchase transactions
  • Serve as initial point of contact for visitors and callers to the department
  • Monitor more than one email account
  • Respond to correspondence related to the office or department
  • Handle additional responsibilities as required

Requirements

  • Excellent organization and communication skills; a flexible, team-oriented professional with a willingness and readiness to support the Logistics Team in the accomplishment of projects and daily tasks
  • A proactive, efficient, can-do, goal-oriented work style that can negotiate, yet also quickly adapt to ever-changing, often unanticipated, sometimes ambiguous priorities and requests; comfortable with periodic interruptions based on needs and requests
  • Understands and respects multicultural management dynamics and issues
  • Proven user level IT skills (Accounting Database, email, etc.) required to support the Logistics department, combined with a learning attitude and creative tolerance with differences while offering training and mentoring as needed
  • Basic Bookkeeping or Accounting experience
  • Ability to lift 50+ pounds regularly
  • Experience with Google docs, forms, email, calendars
  • A high school diploma or equivalent 

Preferred

  • Two-year degree
