Pray with JAARS: COVID-19 Edition
Posted on March 23, 2020

More than ever during this time of uncertainty, your prayers are vital! We are deeply grateful for your coming alongside us in this way!
This week Pray with JAARS for: wisdom and discernment for our COVID-19 Response Team, JAARS partners who are facing their own local challenges with COVID-19, lift up the JAARS community as we take proactive steps in social distancing, and more!
Pray with JAARS is a weekly prayer bulletin, featuring items for daily intercession. Thanks so much for praying!
Ask God for wisdom and discernment for our COVID-19 Response Team and President Woody McLendon as they continue to monitor the status of the pandemic locally and update plans and protocols on an as-needed basis.
Pray for JAARS partners who are facing their own local challenges with COVID-19, including travel restrictions, quarantines, and more. Ask God to give them creative ideas and wisdom for continuing their work in spite of the obstacles caused by the pandemic.
Ask God for continued wisdom and courage for JAARS’ COVID-19 Response Team who’ve been at work with disciplined and proactive measures to mitigate risks and support our organization.
Lift up the JAARS community as we take proactive steps in social distancing to protect our staff and the local community. This includes having the JAARS staff work at home and postponing all non-essential ministry activities for the next several weeks.
Pray for our global partners, good communications, and a way clear of obstacles for JAARS staff as they continue to work with partners moving forward in Bible translation, Scripture engagement, and other language-related ministry activities in spite of COVID-19.
Praise God for technology that allows staff to continue working, hold meetings online, and other important tasks that are helping make Bible translation possible.
JAARS’ public-facing activities like tours, museums, mission teams, and more are closed for the next few weeks. These closings not only affected our plans to show and tell visitors who were planning to come learn how we help make Bible translation possible; it changed their plans too. Pray for the individuals, church and school groups, and others whose plans have been altered by the pandemic to overcome disappointment as well as our staff who had been preparing for their visit. Pray that canceled visits can be rescheduled.
