WAXHAW, N.C. — May 22, 1999 — The JAARS Board of Directors will dedicate the new Language Services Center Saturday, May 22, at the JAARS Center on Davis Road. Ceremonies begin at 11 a.m. A barbecue lunch for invited guests will follow the event.

The LSC building will house the Computing and Telecommunications Department, Linguistics Library, and Language Center. These have been operating from four buildings and three mobile units, scattered across the 600+ acre campus. In a domino effect, other crowded departments will utilize vacated space, enhancing effectiveness throughout the organization.

The 32,000 square foot building was constructed with the help of 265 volunteers from across the country. Donors provided funds and materials, including all the steel for the construction and many of the furnishings.

JAARS is an international non-profit organization providing technical services to Wycliffe Bible Translators and the Summer Institute of Linguistics. Services include aviation, computing and telecommunication, construction and maintenance, purchasing and shipping, materials transportation, and vernacular media.
