President
David Reeves became the president of JAARS in October 2008, bringing with him 24 years of experience in the Wycliffe Bible Translators family of organizations.
He and his wife, Jane, began their Wycliffe career at the JAARS Center in Waxhaw, N.C., where David served in the radio department and avionics shop.
After serving with JAARS, the couple spent 18 years supporting Bible translation in Indonesia. There, they provided communication and aviation services to translators and literacy specialists. During that time, they also learned first-hand of the invaluable impact JAARS has on the lives of missionaries.
Although he was educated in the technical arena, David’s experiences propelled him into several management roles. He served as the chairman of the Indonesia Branch Executive Committee and the General Manager of YAJASI Aviation and Communications in Papua, Indonesia.
Regarding his role as spiritual leader of JAARS, David says, “Proverbs 29:18 sums up the need of the JAARS community: ‘Where there is no vision, the people perish.’ As the JAARS president, one of my primary roles will be to help JAARS staff grapple with what God is doing in the world and how we can join Him in that work.”
