Financial Practices

As a nonprofit organization, we recognize that our support of Bible translation relies solely on God's provision. For more than 60 years, we have trusted Him to meet our financial needs through the gifts of individuals, churches and organizations.

We understand that each gift comes from God, and each is given through the sacrifice of our financial partners. Therefore, we are dedicated to transparency and accountability in our financial practices. We are committed to:

Wise Use of Financial Resources

Each year, our senior leadership team works to create a budget that will provide for effective support of worldwide Bible translation. Of the funds spent during our 2008 fiscal year, 87.8% were used for program services.

Providing Financial Reports

We make our financial reports easily accessible every year, as well as archives of previous years' financial reports.

Auditing

Our full-time internal auditor reviews our financial records throughout the year. Additionally, we hire a certified public accounting firm to conduct an audit of our financial statements each year. These audits are performed according to auditing standards generally accepted in the United States.

Transparency to Our Financial Partners

We are committed to being open and truthful about our financial records. Because of this openness, MinistryWatch.com assigned JAARS the highest possible score for transparency. To view their summary report of JAARS, please click here.

In our June 2009 report with the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance, JAARS met all 20 standards for charity accountability. To see the full report, please click here.

ECFA Membership
