Welcome to JAARS!

JAARS Day provides an interactive and friendly environment for you to learn how Bible translation and support services help fulfill the Great Commission.

There is no fee for JAARS Day or weekday tours. Your only cost would be for lunch in the dining room or a helicopter or airplane ride, if you choose. Payment by check or cash. Parking is free.

Please arrive at the Townsend Building at 9:45 a.m. to receive your nametags, schedule guides and attend a short program.

You can then visit the areas on the center that interest you most and interact with experienced missionaries.

  • Helio Courier aviation demonstration at the hangar
  • Construction and Maintenance: See how CAM workers help speed Bible translation with their skills.
  • Information Technology Services: Get a close look at how cutting-edge technology is used in Bible translation.
  • Aviation: The only way some Bible translators can get to work is by aircraft. Come enjoy an amazing Helio Courier airplane demonstration. (Demonstration dependent on weather conditions.)
  • Vernacular Media Services: See how non-print media tools, such as CDs, films, audio-cassettes and drama are used to present God’s Word.
  • Materials Transportation: Climb aboard an “18-wheeler” and see how missionaries’ goods are shipped.

Lunch

is available at the JAARS Center Dining Room. It includes pizza or baked potato, salad, beverage and dessert for $5.00 per person including tax. (You are welcome to bring a sack lunch if you so choose.)

Other special opportunities:
  • Airplane ($18) or helicopter ($20) rides
A Voluntary Release of Rights and Waiver of Liability form must be signed by all who fly. If you are under 18 years of age, this form must also be signed by a parent or guardian.

  • A translator’s talk on the importance of understanding a language and culture in translating the Bible
  • Missionary stories and activities for children
