Reliable transportation for field teams in Africa and other places presents one of the biggest obstacles to being able to carry out their translation projects. Many of the translators work where paved roads don’t exist, and dirt roads are in bad condition, especially during the rainy season. JAARS has been searching for better ways to serve and support Scripture-impact activities. The Land Transportation Department provides consultation, equipment and trained personnel that will facilitate safe land travel for field programs.

Goals for Land Transportation

Specific goals for this department include: Offering training in safe driving techniques to members and partners. Conducting land transportation surveys as needed in Africa, Asia and other areas. Training in the value and use of GPS (Global Positioning System) for navigation and safety. Teaching nationals maintenance techniques for bicycles, motorcycles and other vehicles. Providing the best match of vehicles to terrain for use by field teams.
