More than 400 languages echo across India—permeating plateaus and chiseled mountains, barren deserts and teeming city streets. Today, God’s Word resounds in more than 130 Indian languages; translation is underway for roughly the same number.

And more than 160 have yet to be reached.

Nearly all current and future Bible translations rely on computers: the go-to machine for analyzing languages, typing drafts, researching and collaborating. Yet few translators are technical gurus, making software bugs and equipment glitches menacing obstacles.

By partnering with JAARS, you can support Wycliffe India’s fledgling information technology team, which provides technical support for translators as well as the organization.

This project will provide software, computer equipment and training, enabling the team to:

  • Provide technical support, including purchasing, training and troubleshooting.
  • Create a secure communication network for Wycliffe India.
  • Maintain a database for administration and accounting.
  • Build a Wycliffe India Web site.
  • Recruit additional personnel.

As a result, dozens of programs can better harness technology for Bible translation—and bring God’s stirring message of hope more quickly to Indian communities.
