Your gift will help provide the JESUS film in four languages, allowing many on Tanna Island to watch the riveting story of Jesus' death and resurrection.
Give NowJust east of Australia, an 80-island archipelago speckles the Pacific—lush with coconut trees and humid forests, volcanoes and tiny villages, and more than 100 distinct, culture-drenched language groups.
Ah, Vanuatu.
The island nation hosts a curious religious atmosphere, where Christianity, lingering animistic traditions, even a World War II-era cult comingle—even overlap. On one of its most populated islands, Tanna, many Ni-Vanuatu people have embraced Bible translation, and programs are quickly gaining speed. By January 2010, four of the island’s six languages will have complete translations of Luke, a foundational text for sharing the gospel.
Yet centuries-old animistic beliefs and stubbornly low literacy rates—in some languages, still less than 20%—shield many Ni-Vanuatu from understanding the translated Word.
By partnering with JAARS, you can help provide a solution: four translated versions of the JESUS film, a feature-length movie based on the Gospel of Luke.
Through these films, God's Word can become an understandable, transformational part of thousands of Ni-Vanuatu’s lives—no longer an unnoticed story.
