Swathed in mangrove swamps and grasslands, melting into plateaus and deserts, Nigeria boasts more than 500 languages. The majority—300, perhaps, or 350—are awaiting Bible translation, representing more than 12% of the world’s remaining needs.

Without language survey, however, planning future work is a precarious task.

During the last 30 years, Nigeria’s rain forests and savannahs have seen little survey work, leaving many questions on the table.

Thankfully , a new survey department was formed in 2006. Today, the growing team is charged with meeting the entire country’s survey needs—yet lacks funds for even basic training and office space.

By partnering with JAARS, you can help sustain the department by providing:

  • Office space, furniture and supplies.
  • A stable power supply and Internet connection.
  • Funds for travel and accommodations during surveys.
  • Training opportunities.

As a result, Bible translation and literacy efforts can confidently press ahead, ensuring that millions of Nigerians receive God’s riveting message of love and forgiveness.

This project is sponsored in partnership with Wycliffe Bible Translators.
