Internet Upgrades for Regional Translation Centers

Her eyes flit across the screen, scrutinizing each heading and footnote; examining numbers and colors, labels and maps; lingering on a peculiar word—hunting for even the slightest mistake.

For Heidi, as for any typesetting specialist, preparing Scriptures for the press can easily swallow weeks of office time. And since her desk happens to be in Jos, Nigeria, she trudges through projects with two added hurdles: a shaky power supply and painfully slow Internet access.

For hundreds working across Africa, Heidi’s story is poignantly familiar.

Fifty-three translation centers are operating throughout the continent, and due to a lack of funds and equipment, many struggle with finicky power and Internet connections. By partnering with JAARS, you can help provide:

  • Satellite dishes.
  • Network installation.
  • Funds for Internet fees, which can be 10 times higher than in developed countries.
  • Reliable power systems, such as generators and solar power.

With these resources, hundreds of personnel will have more reliable power and Internet connections—enabling them to continue bringing God’s powerful message of hope to African communities.
