Audio Scripture Players

For many people in Pacific cultures, reading is not the primary means of obtaining information. For those who will never read, oral versions of the gospel are essential. For those who do read, Scripture players can expand the use of translated Scriptures.

In Papua New Guinea, the isolated Pinai-Hagahai people received seventy-two MegaVoice players, about one per household, spread across their small language area. The response brought tears to the eyes of the translator. “Numerous people told me they use the players often,” he wrote. “One pastor uses it for his devotions, studies, and sermon preparation. An older woman says it takes away her fear of the night.”

Even literate people say they listen to God’s Word while they prepare food, weave mats and baskets, make an axe handle, or tie sago branches to make a wall. Some gather on verandas at night to hear what God has done for them through Jesus.

By partnering with JAARS, you can help put more oral Scripture players into the hands of people across the Pacific. This project will:

  • provide MegaVoice or Saber players, according to each situation
  • give nonreaders access to translated Scriptures
  • expand Scripture use in Pacific cultures

With personal access to oral Scriptures, countless people will hear the life-changing words of God in their own heart language.
