GRANT RECEIVED

JAARS recently received a $200,000 grant toward this aircraft—thanks to many generous partners who gave during a 16-month challenge program.

We're now less than $200,000 away from sending the aircraft to Cameroon. We've purchased a Cessna 207 and hope to fly it to Seattle, Wash., in April to receive a Soloy engine.

To help finish this urgent project, make a gift today.

Every few months, dozens of 55-gallon steel drums are lined up in Waxhaw, N.C., and filled with aviation-grade gasoline—then packed into a 20-foot sea freight container, sent across the Atlantic Ocean, and trucked another 175 miles to the aviation base in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

Though this process is tedious, it’s the only current option for sustaining the country’s JAARS-supported aviation program. All three of its aircraft rely on avgas, which is typically unavailable throughout Cameroon. Without these shipments, the nearest source is almost 500 miles away, in Bangui, Central African Republic, where it costs as much as $21 per gallon.

Therefore, the aviation program will begin transitioning to turbine-engine aircraft, which run on jet fuel. This fuel is widely available throughout the world and can be purchased in Cameroon for about $4.50 per gallon.

By partnering with JAARS, you can help provide a Soloy Cessna 207—allowing the program to decrease its dependence on imported fuel and better serve hundreds of Central African communities.
