Dear Partners in Bible Translation,

Jesus, waiting for his disciples, asked a Samaritan woman to draw water from Abraham's well. The story has obvious spiritual meaning—and a more obscure message. Without a jar and perhaps a rope, she would have been unable to do as He asked.

In the same way, Bible translation cannot be accomplished without tools. Years ago, it was index cards and pencils. Now translators depend on computers and software to store text, produce non-Roman scripts, and analyze the sounds of a language. They need telephones, email and other communication links. Airplanes, helicopters, boats, vernacular media tools and much more.

JAARS is committed to providing these tools to support the work of Bible translation all over the world. We are pleased to partner with Wycliffe in offering these critical project opportunities—technical tools and other translation resources—which will move us closer to the goal of translated Scripture for every man, woman and child in the world.

Until all have tasted the living water,

James S. Akovenko, President
