King Ramkhamhaeng of Thailand

King Ramkhamhaeng of Thailand

King Ramkhamhaeng adapted the Kampuchean alphaet, derived from South Indic, to the writing of Thai.

He indicated its three tones with the symbols +, |, and the absence of a mark. The marks indicated the actual tones used in pronouncing words.
