Introductory RoomThere are an estimated 6,000 spoken languages in the world, about half of which exist in written form. But it was not always so. The Wycliffe Bible Translators and SIL International have been a major force in giving a written form to some of these languages in this century. This sculpture made from scrap metal greets visitors in the introductory room. Click on the picture to see more detail (94K image).
