Many languages that have only recently been written down are written
in the alphabet prevalent in the region — even so, adaptations
often have to be made to account for sounds that are not represented
in those alphabets. Due to other factors, such as language groups
across national boundaries, some languages must be presented in
two alphabets to reach all readers, and in the case of the Tai Dam
in Vietnam, three alphabets are needed.
