About the Host
I invite you to listen to our 14-minute program, Speeding the Word, to hear how God is accomplishing His purposes in Bible translation. Each week, you can hear personal stories of how God is using Bible translators and support personnel to bring His Word to those that do not have it.
—Host Arthur Lightbody
Arthur Lightbody and his wife, Kathleen, served in the Philippines with Wycliffe Bible Translators from 1979–1990. During that time, they translated Genesis and Matthew for a language group of about 10,000 people living near the southern edge of Mindanao. Arthur also worked in administrative roles.
They returned to the United States in 1990 to serve at the Wycliffe Bible Translators USA headquarters in Huntington Beach, Calif., where Arthur worked in administration and public relations. In 1999, they moved to Waxhaw, N.C., to serve at the JAARS Center.
Arthur is currently the Media Relations Officer for JAARS and host of Speeding the Word. He also serves as a public relations officer for SIL International's work in the Americas.
