Vernacular Media Services Strategy
|
|
|
| Vernacular Media Services can help you establish
a strategy to reach a people group. You learn how to identify
needs, develop a plan, and produce and distribute vernacular media.
VMS can also provide information on available media resources and
their optimal use, recording and distribution equipment, and
available recording services.
|
|
|
|
As much as possible, VMS
promotes recording in village settings so that the
local people can be involved in the production process,
fostering a sense of ownership of the final product.
VMS also uses the “prompter technique” of
recording, whereby non-readers unable to read a script
take part in the recording process This encourages
broader community participation. It also enhances a
sense of ownership and allows key leaders to add
credibility to the product.

| Wycliffe Bible Translators’ Vision
2025—having a Scripture translation program in all languages
that need it by the year 2025—means that hundreds of media
specialists are needed, both overseas and at JAARS. If you would like
to be a part of the VMS team as a volunteer or member, please contact
VMS at vms_recruitment_jaars@sil.org
or 1-888-273-5061.
