1. Pray for Ellis and Martha Deibler who will soon finish six weeks
of translation checking in three Guatemalan languages. 2. Praise the Lord! The critical need for assistant director for Human Resources was filled in September by Jerry Jones. Pray for Jerry as he serves in this position. 3. There are no JAARS Days in December and January. Pray for Tour Department staff as they plan the 2006 JAARS Days. 4. Pray for Butch Barkman in his new assignment with the Americas Area Group. 5. Pray for a resolution of email communication problems in Southeast Asia, so the Christmas story in four languages can be edited and printed in time to celebrate the birth of the King. 6. Pray that David Abernathy in Nairobi, Kenya, can communicate clearly with African students as they prepare to serve as translators and pastors in East African countries. 7. Rob Peterson, a pilot assigned to Cameroon, is in his 8th month of French study in Switzerland. Pray for perseverance, ability to grasp the language, health and strength. 8. Rejoice with us! October 25 was a day of celebrating what God did through JAARS during the past fiscal year. May He be glorified! 9. Pray that administrative needs in Chad will be met so that language personnel can continue in their assignments. 10. Rejoice with the Food Service department for chef, Sarah Estep. Ask the Lord for a permanent Food Service Manager. 11. Praise for the completion of the Ghana Ahanta script for the JESUS film. Pray technical problems will be minimal as dubbing begins. 12. Praise the Lord for the JAARS celebration of the completion of the Gullah New Testament, November 5. 13. Thank God for those serving JAARS in the Boutique and Sewing Room. 14. Many translation teams are in the process of preparing for the publication of New Testaments and Bibles. Pray for protection from Satan’s wiles during these crucial final years. 15. Pray for needed staff for Housing and Housekeeping: housekeepers, a housing manager, a Penn Lodge cleaner, and housekeeping supervisor. 16. Pray for senior leadership staff, Jim Akovenko, Judy Bokelman, Dave Bothwell and Phil McBride. Pray their emotional, physical and spiritual needs will be met and that they will bring God glory in all they say and do. 17. Ask the Lord to provide two nurses, a receptionist, and a lab technician for JAARS Health Services. Pray for wisdom for doctors and nurses as they assess the needs of each patient. 18. Praise God that Bev Dawson found the first nine chapters of Revelation in the Wapishana language after her computer was repaired. The translation was thought to be lost after the death of Rich and Char Hicks and the burning of their house in Guyana. 19. The Atta are a small hunter-gatherer group, along the northern coast of Luzon, Philippines. They own no land, are semi-nomadic, and subsist as itinerant farm helpers. Praise God for their New Testament and hymnal. 20. Pray for workers to teach the Atta people skills for improving their economic and social lives. Pray they will read and apply God’s Word to their lives. 21. Pray for Wycliffe Associates members who have begun construction and other projects at the Mexico centers in Oaxaca and Mitla. 22. God has done great things through financial partners this year. Pray that He will direct year-end givers to contribute generously. 23. Ask God to inspire people in Creative Services (CRS) who design and write materials telling others about JAARS ministries. 24. Pray for keen eyes for the CRS editorial staff to catch errors before materials are printed and distributed. 25. “For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:11 NKJV). Pray for the people of the world who still need to hear this Good News. 26. Thank God for those who assist oversea workers by purchasing and shipping needed supplies and equipment. 27. Thank God that the JESUS film has been translated into over 888 languages, shown in many countries and viewed almost six billion times worldwide. 28. Pray for Norma Duffey, newly assigned to Maritime Services, as she tackles a five-year backlog of work. 29. The Democratic Republic of Congo is preparing for 2006 elections. Pray for peace to reign during the process and for a godly leader to be chosen to lead this great nation. 30. Pray for David Presson, who is assuming the oversight of foundation contacts in Partnership Ministries. 31. Pray that those serving at JAARS will be fully supported by teams of financial and prayer partners.

1. Brett and Mindy Taylor arrived in July to work with
JAARS middle and high school youth. Pray for wisdom and
understanding.
2. Praise God that after three years Gerry and Barb Steba officially began their assignment with the Jungle Jump Off Program on July 10. 3. Pray for technicians working on Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) technology to provide satellite internet connections for workers in remote areas of the world. 4. Pray for those in aviation, construction and maintenance, vernacular media and computer support who are involved in networking and recruiting. 5. Praise God for today’s celebration of the completion of the Gullah New Testament. Gullah is a Creole language spoken by African-American descendants of West African slaves who live along the southeastern U.S. seacoast. 6. This is Elaine Townsend’s birthday! Praise God for her servant’s heart. Ask Him to encourage her today. 7. Pray for needed funding for the Keep ’em Flying Kodiak plane project. The Kodiak can provide translators access to remote parts of the Asia Pacific where the greatest number of Bibleless people groups live. 8. Praise God for Tom Salisbury and Ron Klump who assume leadership of the Construction and Maintenance Department. Pray for a buyer, office manager, and receptionists. 9. Pray for safety in travel and health for JAARS board members. Pray for protection of families at home. 10. The JAARS Board Meeting begins today. Pray for the logistics and technical aspects of the meeting. 11. Praise the Lord for Bob and Nancy Haussler’s safe arrival in the Solomon Islands in their 50-foot sail boat, The Swan. They plan to taxi Bible translation teams to and from their island locations. Pray for their cultural and language studies. 12. Pray for Mike and Beth Matheson as they raise support in order to work with youth on the center. 13. Praise the Lord for His faithfulness to Bible Translation Association of Papua New Guinea, which celebrated 25 years on June 25. 14. Pray for Wycliffe Associates carpenters, plumbers, concrete finishers, electricians, painters, and roofers helping provide translation teams needed facilities. Praise God for these encouragers, exhorters, comforters and counselors. 15. Pray for wisdom for Michael and Tracy Wright, Mark and Lois Clark, and Tom and Sandy Brown, Construction and Maintenance Orientees, as they seek field assignments. 16. Thank God for the new Long Ranger helicopter in Papua New Guinea. Pray for those in training to fly and maintain it. 17. Ask God to provide for the many staffing needs worldwide. Maintaining adequate staff is difficult, with people moving from one job to another, coming and going on furlough, or retiring. 18. Praise God for the power of music. Ute Native Americans (nearly 2,000) can listen to Christian music in their language. One 82-year-old Ute woman composes songs and sets psalms, testimonies and praise to music. 19. Another Ute woman has translated many hymns into Ute. Pray that the CDs of traditional Ute songs and Scripture reading will open the Ute people’s hearts to the gospel. 20. Pray for the typesetting process that began in September for the Philippines Dibagat New Testament, Genesis and Exodus. 21. Pray for the WBT USA Electronic Media team and JAARS as they put together a short video segment on meeting transportation needs. 22. The IRS is considering further guidelines for the donor car program. Pray for a favorable outcome and for God’s timing in the activation of the rulings. 23. Pray for another part-time doctor, a part-time lab technician, a nurse, a part-time receptionist and a doctor qualified to oversee the lab. 24. As we celebrate Thanksgiving today, thank God for giving us His Word, the Bread of Life, in our mother tongue. Pray for those who do not yet have the Scriptures in their heart languages. 25. Praise God for miracles in travel. The day before Mali’s Tamasheq New Testament dedication, a dense dust cloud covered West Africa. After much prayer, the cloud lifted the next morning, allowing MAF pilots to fly nine people safely to the dedication. 26. Wycliffe Taiwan celebrated its tenth anniversary in September! Pray Taiwan’s churches and mission organizations will enjoy good communication and cooperation. Pray for a passion for Bible translation. 27. “Many workers needed for Vision 2025 will come from Africa, Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe,” writes Geoff Knott, director of Wycliffe, United Kingdom. Pray churches in these areas will learn about opportunities to send and help fund Bible translators and literacy workers. 28. Because today’s youth are part of the next generation that God is preparing to fulfill Vision 2025, pray for and encourage them to become passionately and actively involved in the work of Bible translation. 29. Pray for parents of the next generation to release their children to ministry. Without this release, many feel trapped by the expectations of their parents. 30. Pray for personnel facing crucial decisions due to low support. Pray for encouragement and for additional prayer and financial support.

1. Today is JAARS Day. Pray hearts will be touched to go
and give as guests learn about Bible translation.
2. Praise God for a great fiscal year ending September 2005. As a new year begins, pray that God will supply what is needed for the worldwide Bible translation effort. 3. Pray for Richard Allen Farmer as he prepares to speak at the Spiritual Vitality Meetings on October 9-10. 4. In the wake of Richard and Charlene Hicks’ murders, the Wapishana co-translators have shown new levels of commitment, pledging to bring the Bible to their people. Pray for Bev Dawson as she assists this language project. 5. Praise God for the quality and quantity of translation helps being produced by the Language and Translation Department staff. 6. Pray for wisdom and compassion for Dr. Richards, Dr. Kuitems, and Nurse Practitioner Joan Dickey as they see each patient. Pray that Health Services staff will be an encouragement to everyone who uses the clinic. 7. Praise God with Steve Kaetterhenry and Bruce Witteveen in the Printshop for the provision of a new printing press. 8. Pray for provision of an Assistant Human Resources Director. This loss negatively impacts the ability to meet other departments’ personnel needs. 9. Spiritual Vitality meetings begin today. Pray for speaker Richard Allen Farmer and for hearts and minds to hear what the Lord has to say. 10. A donor has offered to match contributions, up to $1 million designated for new mission aircraft. Pray for generous giving to this challenge ending January 31, 2006. 11. Ask God to guide the Wycliffe USA National Mobilization team to accomplish its goal of enlisting 7,000 new workers by 2014. Pray for Chuck Micheals, the Vice President for Mobilization. 12. Praise God for mission-minded people. Pray for opportunities to present the work of Wycliffe and JAARS in local churches. 13. Sea Captains Larry and Anne Hamilton are assessing transportation needs in Southeast Asia. Pray for visas, work permits, and sailing permission for the next phase. 14. Thank God for His rich blessings and ask His continued mercy on Bible Translation. 15. The Aviation Technical Conference (ATC) runs October 18–28. Pray for final arrangements and for Chuck Daly and his team to stay focused and be organized. 16. Daily aviation responsibilities and lack of personnel keep field workers busy. Pray they will find time to prepare and consider issues to be addressed at ATC. 17. Pray for healing and comfort for JAARS people experiencing health problems. 18. Translation has begun in the French Polynesia Paumotu language (14,400 speakers) using computer software, “Adapt It” and a related Tahitian translation. Pray for the speakers to be open to God’s message. 19. Praise God for 16 New Testaments published in Pacific Area languages this year! 20. Pray for the logistics and preparations for the celebration of the completion of the Gullah Sea Islands New Testament at the JAARS center on November 5. 21. Pray for Arthur Lightbody, Coordinator for the Celebration of the Completion of the Gullah New Testament, and his staff. Pray for the volunteers helping on November 5. 22. Pray for the staffing needs for Partnership Ministries. 23. Pray for Paul Powlison as he sets up computer programs to prepare material to be downloaded into microchip players for use by Yagua people to listen to God’s Word. 24. Pray with John Marx and the Materials Transportation Service staff for needed longhaul truck drivers. 25. Pray for patience and gentleness for the MK Station staff and for the safety of the children in their care. 26. Praise God for providing a second PC-6 airplane for reaching Bibleless people groups of Southeast Asia. These aircraft will help relieve the flight program’s dependence on aviation gas. 27. Pray that Jim Akovenko and his senior staff will remain in close fellowship with God and receive guidance through His Word. 28. Ask God to provide a replacement for the Senegal Center Manager who is leaving next year. Filling this need will allow language teams to continue their translation and literacy work. 29. Pray for our service men and women. Many are very weary. Pray for emotional and physical strength. Pray the same for their families. 30. Pray for the Executive Director and the Board Chairman as they prepare for the November 10–12 JAARS Board Meeting. Pray for board members as they read and process materials. 31. The annual review by external auditors will be the first week of November. Pray for good communication with them and for Accounting to handle the extra work during this time.

1. Pray for spiritual, emotional and physical refreshment for Rick
and Dori Pfizenmaier with the close of the summer Jungle Jump Off
programs.
2. Rising fuel prices and the administrative load required by new aviation system rules mean increased air travel costs for those serving in Papua New Guinea. Pray that the Aviation department will find ways to lessen the financial burden for language teams there. 3. Kekchi speakers in Guatemala will soon watch “The Hope,” an 80-minute film giving a panorama of the entire Bible. Pray for understanding and acceptance of the message. 4. Alice Ott is a new Wycliffe member assigned to serve in Accounting. Pray her financial support will be supplied. 5. Today is Labor Day. Pray for our country, President Bush, the Cabinet, Congress, and local leaders. 6. Pray for missionary kids beginning or returning to college this fall. Ask God to supply their financial needs. 7. Workers in rural areas rely on solar panels to power their computers. Linguists in Peru recently reported a cold spell in their villages that shut down their computers. Pray for sun needed to charge solar panels. 8. Pray for God’s Spirit to encourage people as they read and apply God’s love letter: the revised and dedicated Texmelucan Zapotec (Mexico) New Testament with Psalms and Proverbs. All 240 copies were sold! 9. Keeping mission websites up and running can be a challenge. Websites must be maintained and kept full of relevant information. Pray for this important and time-consuming work. 10. Pray for the tour guides who tell JAARS Day guests about Bible translation. Ask for the Lord’s guidance in their conversations. 11. Recording of the JESUS film in Madagascar’s Tandroy and Masikoro languages is complete. Pray these people groups will respond in faith. 12. Five languages related to Peru’s Asheninka language will soon receive New Testaments and Old Testament portions. Pray for wisdom in choosing words that can be easily understood. 13. Pray for the JAARS team as they gather for a special time of prayer today. Ask God to uphold and protect those working in dangerous areas of the world. 14. Praise the Lord for supplying new computer project managers for the Orlando and JAARS centers. Pray that they would experience God’s blessing in their work. 15. The Passion of the Christ was shown on television in a Southeast Asian country in March. A survey revealed 2,349,000 people watched. Pray for all those seeking or drawing closer to Christ after seeing this movie. 16. Pray for writers and proofreaders of aviation training and information manuals in Papua New Guinea. Ask the Lord for creativity, endurance, motivation, and ability to “do it all in the name of Jesus” (Col. 3:17). 17. Every day people pass into eternity without knowing that God speaks their language. Pray for the work of Vision 2025 so that all people will know of His love and the gift of eternal life. 18. The Tamasheq New Testament in Mali has been published, but thousands of nomads can’t read. Now it is recorded on cassette. Give Him glory! 19. Pray for those preparing Tamasheq music as background for the cassette reading of the New Testament. 20. A Moms-in-Touch prayer group meets weekly in Waxhaw to pray for their school-age children. Pray with them for the young people you know. 21. Since the Madak New Testament dedication in 1995, the people of East New Britain Province, Papua New Guinea (population 8,400) have developed a hunger for reading. Pray for hearts to be changed as they read God’s Word. 22. Thank God for the airplane part provided free for the King Air in Papua New Guinea. It would have cost more than $7,000! 23. Praise the Lord for breakthroughs in Brazil on various aviation approvals that have been in process for more than two years! 24. Praise the Lord with Partnership Ministries for the complete funding of more than 23 projects this fiscal year. 25. In Southeast Asia, 50 new translations projects have begun. One reader said, “This [Scripture portion] feeds me spiritually. It makes me want to read the whole Bible, so hurry up!” Pray for this work to be completed soon. 26. When Cameroonian translator, Emmanuel Echebi, began preaching in a small village, the village head spoke up, saying, “I want all of my people to hear the Gospel in Mbembe so they will repent from their evil.” Praise the God who prompts hearts! 27. After Emmanuel Echebi finished preaching, 20 men and women left the service shouting, “We will follow Jesus, the only Savior, until we die.” Praise the God of the Harvest! 28. A Catholic priest has been leading Basic Bible Seminars in eight districts of Cagayancillo, Philippines. Praise God for this young priest’s enthusiasm for the Kagayanen Bible. 29. Pray that the Chadian church will catch the vision for Bible translation and partner with translation association ATALTRAB financially and through prayer and relationships. 30. Pray for the logistics, equipment, technicians and the Mixtec people (Mexico) involved with the Luke video project, which is nearing completion. Praise the Lord for partnership with the Bible League in the area.

1. “Boy, this is spiritual dynamite,” exclaimed
a translator’s son, when 58 boxes of Peru’s
Lambayeque Quechua New Testaments arrived from the printer on
May 10. Praise God!
2. The Lambayeque Quechua New Testament (for 20,000 speakers) will be dedicated on August 5-7 in the town of Inkawasi, Peru. Pray for people to read and respond in faith and obedience to the Scriptures. 3. Dubbing of the JESUS film into Papua New Guinea’s Vasui language is now complete. Pray that those who see the film will respond in faith. 4. Pray for the dedication of the Vasui New Testament August 5-7. Pray the Lord will prepare the people to receive and obey God’s written Word. 5. The 2nd Total It Up of the summer finishes today. Pray those God calls into Bible translation will commit to it and prepare themselves for it. 6. Pray for today’s JAARS Day guests to catch the vision of Bible translation and want to become involved. 7. Pray for Partnership Ministries, as they seek sponsorship for the projects chosen for 2006. 8. Pray for David and Estelle Abernathy and three children, as they begin serving in Nairobi, Kenya. Pray for their five older children remaining in the U.S. 9. Pray for all the families and singles traveling this summer, as they report to sending churches and relate with their partnership teams. 10. Give God glory for doors, long closed to foreigners, now open as a result of the tsunami in Northern Sumatra. 11. Continue to pray for tsunami survivors as they rebuild their lives. Thank God for the Wycliffe and JAARS personnel who have helped with logistics, culture and language. 12. The Intercultural Communications Course begins today. Pray for clarity in presentations. Pray for health and safety for staff, trainees and their families. 13. During an annual inspection of an airplane at JAARS, a hydraulic hose appeared to be in new condition, but when hand pressurized, it leaked. Praise God for this timely discovery. 14. Pray that Jim Akovenko and senior administrators will seek and receive refreshment from the Holy Spirit. 15. An anti-drug campaign in Brazil approves “attacking with deadly force” any suspicious aircraft. Pray for the protection of mission flights. 16. Bob and Linda Keizer, Construction and Maintenance director and office manager, plan to serve in Bagabag, Philippines, starting in late 2005. Pray for their replacements in Waxhaw. 17. Rejoice that “Living Water,” a Cofan language broadcast is heard mornings on Ecuador’s HCJB short-wave radio. 18. Thank God for personnel who recorded over 100 half-hour programs of Scripture readings, songs, messages and Bible studies for Cofan broadcasts. 19. Wycliffe Associates plans to build an office, translation and training complex at Mexico’s Oaxaca center starting in October. Pray for funding. 20. Some Wycliffe members struggle for months to raise their support level to 100%. Pray for God to touch the hearts of Christians who can share the financial burdens of Bible translation. 21. Praise the Lord for information technology tools used in the Bible translation task. 22. Pray for technicians who fix computers, keep email flowing, develop software and do other tasks in support of translation around the world. 23. Pray for Amber Willcox, interning in Accounting for the next year, as she learns her job and considers long-term service with Wycliffe. 24. Nigeria has the largest number (over 400!) of languages in Africa. Praise for developing opportunities for The Seed Company to partner there. Pray for funding to meet these needs. 25. The Asia Area director has asked JAARS to survey the area for infrastructure needs including information technology and transportation. Pray for the logistics of this survey. 26. Rejoice! The Mazatlán Mixe New Testament, completed in partnership with the Mexican Bible Society, was dedicated on March 7, 2005! The entire town attended the event. 27. Pray for safety and skill as mission airplanes are flown and maintained in locations around the world. 28. Praise God for literacy workers who pave the way for translation activities and implement programs that result in people reading and responding to the Scriptures. 29. Pray for the JAARS Intercessors team to be diligent, persevere in prayer and be protected from all distractions. 30. Chachi translators in Ecuador are preparing Genesis, Exodus, and the New Testament for publication. They hope it will be ready by June 2006. Pray that God will enable them to meet their goal. 31. Pray for safety and alertness for Material Transportation Services drivers as they crisscross the U.S. and Canada with pick-ups and deliveries.

1. Water and electricity supplies are inadequate in many
countries. Pray for creative ways to help translation teams
with these needs.
2. Thank God for His faithfulness in the 70 years of Bible translations in the Americas area. Ask Him to give wisdom to administrators and surveyors for finishing the task. 3. Pray for breakthroughs in areas where there is little interest in receiving the Scriptures. Ask God to put a hunger for His Word in the hearts of the people. 4. JAARS will participate in the Waxhaw Independence Day parade. Ask that our involvement in this event will bring glory to our Father. 5. Plans are being developed to build the Japan Wycliffe Center at the foot of Mount Fuji. Pray for this project to move forward in the Lord’s timing. 6. Ask God to provide additional staff at the Japan Wycliffe Center to handle many jobs, including publications, personnel and church mobilization. 7. Pray for the JAARS Health Services staff to be encouragers to all who come into the clinic. 8. Pray for Jim Akovenko and the Senior Administration team as they lead and challenge the JAARS personnel. 9. Thanks for praying for our guests at today’s JAARS Day. Your prayers help reduce stress levels of the Tour staff and make the day productive. 10. Pray that in the busyness of ministry, Wycliffe members will remain focused on Jesus. 11. Praise God for His creative power and for His constant watchfulness over all He has made. 12. Today is the monthly morning of prayer at the JAARS center. Join us in praying for the spiritual vitality of all those involved in Bible translations. 13. Since 1953, Wycliffe and the Translation Association of the Philippines have translated the New Testament into 55 of the 169 languages spoken there. Praise God! 14. It is not cultural for Urarinas in Peru to move from village to village. Some Urarina literacy teachers and their families must move to new villages to teach. Pray for their adjustments to this concept and their new locations. 15. Praise God with Bible Translation & Literacy (Kenya) as April 9, 2005, saw the Pokomo New Testament (NT) dedicated. Praise God for the perseverance of the Pokomo team. 16. Of 4,000 Pokomo NTs printed, only 1,000 were transported to the dedication. All sold! After midnight people still came asking for NTs. Praise God and pray for those who are now reading it! 17. Pray for Tim Sieges, director of Wycliffe Counseling Services at JAARS. He provides counseling, consults with administrators around the world, evaluates personnel concerns, teaches workshops, supervises student interns, and administers the counseling office. 18. Rejoice with the Cajamarca Quechua people in northern Peru who received God’s Word in their language January 1, 2005. 19. Praise the Lord for the large gifts that have been received toward purchase of a new Kodiak airplane for Papua New Guinea. 20. Pray that those in authority in various countries will see the value of Bible translation and literacy and facilitate the issuing of visas and work permits. 21. Pray for personnel struggling with an answer from God that doesn’t appear to be “good.“ Pray for peace as they walk with God through times that are difficult to understand. 22. Each Friday during the summer a simulated mission experience called The Journey is presented for JJO groups in Waxhaw. Pray that these young people will gain a clear picture of the mission ministry. 23. Pray for funds for buying suitable typesetting equipment and for training at least two people as typesetters in a central African country. 24. People came by bus, car and on foot to reach Bunkpurugu, Ghana. Nothing could keep them away from the dedication of the complete Bimoba Bible. Pray that people will respond in faith when they read it. 25. Pray for peace and safety for Wycliffe workers and national coworkers in places of unrest. 26. Praise God: Togo’s Waama New Testament has sold out and people are asking for more! Workers are applying for a reprint. Pray that the reprinting, shipping and distribution will go smoothly. 27. If missionary kids’ educational needs are not met, parents leave and translation work is delayed. Ask our Father to meet requests from all over the world for teachers to fill vacant positions critical to running school programs and classes. 28. About 200 languages in Nigeria need translation. To accomplish Vision 2025, 400 or more people are needed on the Nigerian Bible translation team. Pray to the Lord of the harvest. 29. Give thanks to God for Gareth Mort who will spend the next two years mobilizing Nigerians to join the Bible translation team. 30. Take time to pray for our young men and women in uniform, some in dangerous areas. Pray for their families here at home too. 31. 1. Twelve Mission at the Airport programs in eight states
are scheduled in June and July. Pray for flying safety, good
weather and good contacts.
2. Ask the Lord to send staff for the June and August Pacific Orientation Courses. 3. Materials Transportation Service, providing trucking services to Wycliffe and other evangelical mission organizations, is in need of three long-haul drivers. Ask the Lord to call workers to meet the needs. 4. Today is JAARS Day. Pray for the Tour staff as they tell guests about JAARS ministries. 5. Wycliffe translator and literacy specialist Rich and Charlene Hicks were murdered in Guyana March 30. Pray for families, friends, and co-workers. Pray for the Wapishana people and the translation project, just a few years from completion. 6. Praise God! Five years into Vision 2025, more translation teams have entered Bibleless people groups than in any other time in history. 7. June and July are busy months for JAARS Health Services. Pray for replacements while many staff members are away. 8. During the summer months many personnel travel. Pray for safety. Pray for good contacts for those doing Partnership Development. 9. Ken Williams needs additional tools to do his job as center manager at the N’Djamena Center in Chad. Pray for funds and transportation for tools. Pray for needed personnel in general maintenance and computers. 10. Volunteers are choice people who bring a variety of skills and expertise to the JAARS team. Praise God for all those serving at the Center. 11. Pray for the Creative Services team now under leadership of Kristin Elkinton, as publications are prepared for various JAARS audiences. 12. Praise God that CDs of most of the Aymara New Testament and portions of the Old Testament were recently sent to the Bolivian Bible Society, a Christian radio station and missionaries working with that language group. 13. Pray for those attending the June 13-17 Total It Up! at the JAARS Center. Pray that God will show them His will regarding involvement in Bible Translation. 14. Join JAARS in Praise and Prayer today. Pray concerning personnel needs at the JAARS Center, that God would provide either the people or creative resources to fill the gaps. 15. Pray for youth groups participating in Jungle Jump Off (JJO) as they make plans for their trip to Waxhaw. 16. A highlight of the JJO program is getting to know a person or family serving at JAARS. Pray for good fellowship as teens visit in homes. 17. Ed Loving directed the first-ever Total It Up! in Kenya in March, mentoring Bible Translation & Literacy (BLT) staff to run these. Two university graduates attending the course, applied to BTL. Pray for them. 18. Language survey specialist, Ken Decker, showed the JESUS film in San Andres Islander Creole to people from several Caribbean countries. Pray for continued communication of the Gospel through the Creole Scriptures. 19. Pray as Wycliffe Caribbean moves from being a “mission field” to becoming a “mission force.” 20. Praise God for blessing the efforts of the Wycliffe Foundation in the support of global Bible translation and literacy efforts through planned giving. 21. Pray that investments of time, talent and treasure will generate the millions of dollars needed to get God’s Word translated into thousands more languages. 22. Today is the monthly Leadership and Management Training Meeting. Pray that the training material will be helpful to leaders in each department. 23. Pray for personnel needed in crucial positions: Assistant Human Resources (HR) Director and Administrative Assistant to the HR Director. 24. Pray for additional Aviation personnel. There are 40 immediate and urgent needs worldwide. 25. In March, a worker survey helped Administration, showing them positive aspects as well as needs. Pray that dialogue and follow-through will rectify the felt needs and greatly strengthen the entire JAARS team. 26. Pray for Gordon Christian, Personnel Director for the Americas, traveling today to regional meetings with translation teams in Panama. 27. Pray for God’s guidance for all who bear the responsibilities of leadership in Wycliffe USA. 28. Ask the Lord for an extra measure of wisdom for Bob Creson, Wycliffe USA President, as he makes important decisions. Pray as he guides the leadership team and the organization. 29. In April, a team of videographers, photographers and writers went to Southeast Asia to gather information, video footage and photos. Pray for materials being developed to relate Bible translation in a God-honoring way. 30. Nearly 40,000 Rabinal Achi speakers in Guatemala will soon be able to hear Bible stories on tapes and CDs. Pray for those preparing these recordings for public release. Rejoice!

1. Praise the Lord for partners worldwide who pray, give,
and serve as advocates for Bible translation.
2. Partnership Ministries asks prayer for funds to provide a PC-12 airplane for aviation programs in SE Asia. 3. Pray for the JAARS Intercessors team, that God would protect them from all manner of distractions to their prayer ministry, including health problems and family concerns. 4. Praise God for the new reservoir for fresh water in the Philippine village of Dibagat. Thank Him for the work teams who helped make this possible. 5. Pray for Jim Akovenko and others as they plan for next week’s JAARS Board meetings. 6. Based on continued acceleration of new translation programs, in the coming year we could see an average of two new translations begun each week. This is four times faster than the average rate before 2000! Praise God! 7. Even JAARS Day is subject to spiritual warfare. Pray everything from the video projector to helicopter and airplanes will function well. 8. Pray for wisdom for the Tembo team of Eastern Congo Group and for a wider accountability network to be established during the annual planning meeting. 9. Thank God for the JAARS Center housekeeping staff, serving God through hard work and hospitality. 10. Continue praying for the victims of the tsunami and earthquake. At least 35,000 children have been orphaned. Pray for protection of these little ones. 11. Pray for Todd and Esther Jones with son Caleb, serving in computing and as publications editor in Korea. 12. The JAARS Board will meet today through the 14th. Pray for unity of mind, heart and spirit. 13. CAM Winter/Spring Orientation ends today. Pray for Triston and Kim Craven as they look to God’s leading for their overseas assignment. Triston is a skilled electrician. 14. Pray that results of recent field transportation surveys will lead to appropriate decisions and solutions for providing access to remote people groups that are without God’s Word. 15. Pray for dedicated leaders to further the work of Vision 2025. Pray that the Lord will keep them pure and righteous and constantly seeking His leadership and lordship in their lives. 16. Kevin and Gale Tillett, new Wycliffe members, hope to move to Waxhaw before July 2005. Kevin will serve as Aviation flight coordinator. Pray for God to provide their partnership team. 17. In January Ray Rising was told by specialists at the Texas Medical Center that the vision loss in his right eye is permanent. Ask God for a miracle in restoring Ray’s sight! 18. Praise God for progress made on the Moses story by a translation team in Eurasia. Pray for the team who will be recording these films. 19. Pray for deaf people worldwide to become interested in and excited about having the Word in their own language and in helping deaf people in other countries to also have it. 20. JAARS email servers process over 100,000 messages each day. Pray for Dan Zachary as he maintains the “spam” filters and software that scans this mail and identifies junk mail. 21. Praise for the dedication of the Angaataha New Testament in Papua New Guinea in December. God turned the wind around, drying off the airstrip. Nearly 250 New Testaments were sold. 22. Pray for safety and effectiveness of Partnership Ministries representatives as they travel across North America. 23. Brian and Sherri Holm plan to serve at the JAARS Center. Brian is needed in Information Technical Services! Please pray for their house in Minnesota to sell and for needed financial partners. 24. Pray for development of software to support the specialized needs of linguistic and translation work in deaf signed languages. 25. Pray for good health and protection for missionary families and quality education for their children. 26. Pray for those dealing with how required changes in pre-employment drug testing will impact the Aviation and the Materials Transportation departments. 27. Teachers are needed for grades 5 through 8 for the 2005-2006 school year in Bagabag, Philippines. Pray! 28. An 84-year-old retired school teacher in Cameroon said, “The Bible in my mother tongue will speak louder to my ear than the English Bible.” Pray as translation work continues. 29. The JAARS Jungle Jump Off sessions in Waxhaw begin today through August 27. Two groups from Christian schools are scheduled for May. 30. Thirty-six trainees finished the Intercultural Communications Course in February. Pray they will be able to recall and apply what they have learned when they reach their field assignments. 31. During furloughs, Wycliffe members reconnect with family, partners and supporting churches; upgrade training; and more. Pray they will have times of rest and refreshment as well.

1. Pray for computer teams working on the development of scripts
different from our Roman alphabet. 2. Today is the JAARS Day monthly open house in Waxhaw. Thank God for the visitors who come. Pray for those providing hospitality. 3. An accounts payable clerk and a buyer are urgently needed for the Purchasing and Shipping department. 4. Pray for wisdom, safety and good health for Ed and Aretta Loving, in Nairobi mentoring Kenyans and attending the dedication of the Pokomo New Testament. 5. Pray for the launching of a vernacular media website, targeting people working with oral learners. It will promote and share resources and information for effectively communicating the translated Scriptures and other related materials. 6. Pray for those planning to attend the Pacific Orientation Course in May. Pray that they will not need to postpone their training due to a lack of support. 7. Pray for more donated vehicles during 2005 in spite of tightened IRS rules making it less attractive to donate them. 8. Pray for Glen Ferguson and Mike and Pat Mower as they continue to organize the 2005 Missions at the Airport season. 9. In January Ian McQuay and Gary Dubois gave a vernacular media presentation with hands-on recording experience in Manila. Pray those who attended will catch the vision of ways to use vernacular media. 10. Dick and Pat Beller praise the Lord for the dedication of the Western Huasteca Náhuatl entire Bible, held in late November despite much spiritual warfare. Over 600 Aztecs attended, and 1,100 Bibles were sold. Pray the Aztecs will read and understand God’s Word in their language. 11. Pray for the Bellers, now in Dallas preparing for publication of two other dialect adaptations of the Huasteca Náhuatl Aztec entire Bible. 12. The aviation team in Papua New Guinea needs a ground operations supervisor and two flight coordinators. Pray for long-term qualified people to fill these positions. 13. Praise the Lord with Sarah Fite working in JAARS Accounting. Because you prayed last year, her support has increased. Pray for it to reach 100%. 14. Thank God for thousands of workers engaged in Bible translation in many countries, situations and assignments. 15. Praise for many translation teams taking Translators’ Training Courses in Papua New Guinea during April and May. Pray for the teachers. 16. The triennial conferences of both SIL and Wycliffe International begin in Asia today and end May 5. Pray that those coming from all over the world will be blessed by their time together. 17. Pray for the need in Papua New Guinea for someone to help teach two trainees to service computer hardware. 18. “I had translated the book of Jonah before coming to Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology,” says a student from Ghana. “…after studying here, I saw how poor it was and re-translated it.” Thank God for NEGST. 19. Praise God for the JAARS behind-the-scenes servants working in the boutique, gift shop, kitchen, mailroom, library, offices and where needed 20. Seven families are “in the pipeline” for Construction and Maintenance field assignments. Pray for their needed financial and prayer support. 21. Pray for provision of a pilot to serve in Cameroon for all or part of a year. 22. Pray for wisdom and safety in implementing use of the new types of aircraft God is providing for aviation programs around the world. 23. Thank God for missions-minded churches. Pray for a missions vision for many additional churches. 24. Join Jim Leonard of Aramaic Bible Translators (ABT) in praising God for encouragement from an Assyrian man who found ABT on the web. 25. Praise God for John and Susan Dunn who today complete seven weeks of JAARS MK Safari Craft Clubs for children in grades 2 through 6. 26. Please pray for the Jungle Jump Off programs and managers, Rick and Dori Pfizenmaier in Waxhaw, and Ed and Melissa Swanson in Dixon, Illinois. 27. A team in Mexico’s Magdelena Peñasco Mixtec language has completed a first draft of the N.T. and Psalms. “Even people who don’t appear to need it seem to enjoy reading it,” writes one translator. Pray for preparations to review this draft in August. 28. Ask God to send more creative, skilled servant leaders to advance the work of Bible translation. 29. Pray as several aviation groups discuss deeper partnerships between mission organizations, Christian businessmen, training schools, and Christian aviators, to further deal with issues of attrition, debt, and preparation for field service. 30. Pray that workers will have the humility of Christ as described in Philippians 2:5-8.

1. During a fluency check of the book of 1 Thessalonians in
Matigsalug, one listener said, “Just keep reading, Rose,
we want to hear the rest.” Rejoice over this interest in
the translated Scriptures. 2. Don and Ruth May recently relocated from the UK to the US. Don will be able to continue training and consulting, and Ruth, bookkeeping, from their home in Arkansas. 3. Each year JAARS sponsors several important projects that need funding. Pray for donors as they decide where to direct their giving. 4. Before a language can be written, it must be analyzed and understood. Pray for those learning and analyzing complex languages. 5. Pray for all those attending JAARS Day today and getting a glimpse of the challenges of Bible translation. 6. Maritime Specialists, Bob and Nancy Haussler, plan to leave for the Solomon Islands this month. They will “taxi” teams to and from language locations in their 49-foot sailboat and assist with administrative duties. 7. Pray that the Hausslers will be granted permission to operate their boat beyond the first four months in the Solomon Islands. 8. B.J. Diggins will replace Fritz Lauffenburger as aviation manager in Brazil, releasing Fritz to begin orientation as Director for Language Programs on June 1. Fritz will continue to fly until the end of April. 9. Sue Dyvig recently finished flight attendant training so she can work with husband, Denny, a DC-3 pilot seconded to AIM AIR in Kenya. 10. Additional volunteer computer experts are needed as trainers and trouble-shooters for translation projects around the world. 11. Teachers are urgently needed to teach missionary kids in several overseas locations. Please pray. 12. Wycliffe Switzerland celebrated its 40th Anniversary in 2004. Pray for success in recruiting more young people for the Bible translation task. 13. Pray for Jim Akovenko and the JAARS administrative staff. Thank God for giving them wisdom and sensitivity in decisions affecting the worldwide ministry of JAARS. 14. Wycliffe members returning from overseas assignments sometimes experience a drop in financial support. Pray for those needing to expand their prayer and financial base this spring. 15. Pray that Scripture Impact Vision programs will spur the worldwide church to take responsibility for seeing that every people group has ready access to Scripture. 16. Praise God for “advocates” who take the initiative to promote Wycliffe, JAARS and the work of Bible translation by sharing information with friends, coworkers and churches. 17. The short supply of aviation gas continues to be a critical problem for flight programs in Southeast Asia. Pray for a good, long-term solution. 18. The U.S. Center for World Mission sponsors more than 150 Perspectives courses each year. Pray the Holy Spirit will use these missions awareness programs to draw many participants into involvement in Bible translation. 19. Praise God for the 356 new language programs begun worldwide since the start of Vision 2025. 20. Pray for the wisdom, workers and wherewithal necessary to start a program in each of the 2,644 languages still in need of one. 21. A cult is ready to move into a Vanuatu language area if the chiefs do not stop them. Pray that Christian leaders will have wisdom in speaking of the issues, and that God's truth will prevail over promised economic gain. 22. The Cameroon Association for Bible Translation and Literacy would like to set up a volunteer program that will enable Christian university graduates to receive hands-on exposure to Bible translation. Pray for wisdom. 23. Antero’s mother, a non-reader, accepted Christ after hearing her son read translated Scripture passages in her language. The Wanca New Testament will be published in 2006. 24. Cal Hibbard requests prayer that an understudy will be identified soon for his work on the Townsend Archives. 25. “Fixing our Eyes on Jesus in the Midst of Change” is the theme for the SIL branch conference in Papua New Guinea today through April 8. Pray for unity and joy for the team (in PNG). 26. Praise God for another successful translation workshop in Ethiopia! Pray for mother-tongue translators bringing God’s Word to the people there. 27. The triennial conferences of both SIL and Wycliffe International will take place April 16 to May 5 in Asia. Pray for fresh commitment and joy in fellowship and deliberations. 28. Pray for the JAARS delegates to the conferences: Butch Barkman, Ken Haugh, Arthur Lightbody, Phil McBride, Woody McClendon, Jared Schanely and Dennis Steenwyk. 29. Thank God for JAARS volunteers! Some hold positions of significant responsibility; others faithfully perform behind-the-scenes tasks. All of them are needed. 30. Praise God that John Vander Meer and son Michael were not injured when their car flipped on a muddy road near Arua, in Africa. Praise that they were able to get the vehicle repaired. 31. The Pokomo New Testament (Kenya) will be dedicated in April. Pray that the people will welcome the Word of God, recognizing its divine origin and authority.

1. Pray for the families of those killed or
injured by the earthquake and tsunami in South
Asia. Pray that many will seek and find God as
a result of this catastrophic event. 2. Uphold disaster relief workers, including JAARS pilots and mechanics who are partnering with Samaritan’s Purse. 3. Pray for Paul and Nanci Erkert as they prepare to join Daryl Young, currently the only person serving with the aviation program in Cameroon. 4. Pray for tomorrow’s JAARS Day activities. Pray for safety in flights and that visitors will see how they too can be involved in Bible translation. 5. After taking university level linguistic courses, several Chipaya men changed the alphabet that will be used in the revised New Testament. It has 18 letters that are the same in Spanish and Chipaya, plus an additional 29 letters. 6. To teach the new Chipaya alphabet, primers were prepared in November. Pray that field testing and printing will go well. The books must be ready when school starts this month. 7. Praise God for the arrival of the first new PC-6 aircraft in Southeast Asia. Pray for the shipping and successful importation of the second airplane. 8. Ellis and Martha Deibler thank God for the strength to check some 250 chapters of translated Scripture in South Asia. This month they will be consulting and teaching translation principles in Manila. 9. JAARS orientation for new Wycliffe members began in January. The Intercultural Communications segment is underway. Pray for the teachers, trainees and their children. 10. Ken and Joy Swift are finishing the final check of the Caquinte New Testament prior to printing. Pray this project through to its completion. 11. Pray for the translation assistant working with Elmer Wolfenden. After eight weeks of computer training in Manila, he will begin editing a rough translation of Psalms in Masbatenyo, with Elmer via email. 12. Global Bible Translators (Wycliffe Korea) celebrated their 20th Anniversary December 14. They now have 130 members. Praise God! 13. The Salasaca Quichua language project, on hold for more than a decade due to health issues, is again in progress. Pray for Bruce Moore and the two couples doing translation checking this month in Ecuador. 14. Pray for Brett and Mindy Taylor, and Mike and Beth Matheson, new members assigned to the JAARS Youth Department. Pray their prayer and support teams will be formed quickly. 15. Tom Chesebro is returning to the JAARS Creative Services video department following a fruitful, two-year, media assignment in Peru. 16. Pray for a quick resolution to typesetting and funding difficulties for the Ngiemboon and Mundani New Testaments in Cameroon. 17. Pray for all those attending an inter-mission Storytellers Conference in Orlando today through Saturday. 18. Nate Waltz continues to update the second edition of the Wanano New Testament and Dictionary while battling metastatic prostate cancer. Pray for God's continued enabling. 19. Steve Kaetterhenry and Bruce Witteveen in the JAARS Printshop ask prayer for the provision of a newer press to replace the old, failing one. 20. Linguistics for Signed Languages will be added to the North Dakota SIL curriculum this summer. Pray for those who will be involved in translation projects for the deaf. 21. An additional Accounts Receivable bookkeeper is needed in the JAARS Purchasing and Shipping department. 22. Nitya Travis, director of Kartidaya, a Bible translation organization in Southeast Asia, completed her chemotherapy December 16. Thank God for the strength to cope and continue working part-time during treatment. Pray for complete recovery. 23. The Moody Aviation program at Elizabethton, Tenn., closes in May. Two flight instructors are needed in July for the first semester at Moody Aviation's new Spokane location. 24. “I would have remained illiterate, ignorant and poor, but for my involvement in literacy classes,” said Grace P. of Ghana. Pray for those teaching women and children so they can read the Word of God. 25. Pray for the work being done on the Speech Analyzer program that will allow Wycliffe and Campus Crusade to prepare scripts for the Jesus film in unwritten languages. 26. Amy West and Joanne Shetler leave today for a month in the Philippines. Amy will do research on her study program while Jo begins revising the out-of-print Balangao New Testament. 27. Robert King will meet the need for an aviation maintenance instructor at the Bible College of Victoria, Australia. Pray for him and his family in their transition from Papua New Guinea and for financial support to cover the increased cost of living. 28. Pray for wisdom as JAARS and Mission Aviation Fellowship explore partnership opportunities in the areas of information technology and transportation services for Africa.

Nard Pugyao leaves tomorrow for Dibagat, Philippines, with seven work volunteers. Eleven others will join them Jan. 11-26. Pray for safe travel and the completion of a water project. 5. Because you prayed, the right assistant for Paul Duffey, in Land Transportation, was found. Pray for details to be worked out to enable him to join Paul soon. 6. The JAARS Intercessors are people who have taken on the “assignment” of praying. Thank God for them. 7. Dozens of countries have established Wycliffe Organizations to enroll and send Bible translators, literacy workers and support personnel to the fields. Pray for these fellow workers. 8. Pray that those in authority will see the value of Bible translation and literacy in their country and facilitate visas and work permits. 9. Partnership Development and Spiritual Discipleship classes begin today in Waxhaw. Pray for good interaction between staff and new Wycliffe members. 10. Pray for Mike Smith, running the Auto Shop with help from Jonathan Paquette and George Woodward. Another full-time mechanic is needed. 19. In 1981, when the Bible League printed 700 copies of the Kashinawa New Testament (NT), there were only 12 believers. In 2000, when translators Dick and Sue Montag returned to Peru, they found about 700 believers and worn out NTs. Today, the Kashinawa Bible Institute trains leaders, and translation of Old Testament portions is underway. 20. Pray for President Bush “and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness,” (1 Timothy 2:2). 21. Eight families hope to come for Spring Construction and Maintenance Orientation in February. Pray that God will build their partnership teams in time to begin this phase of training. 22. The Intercultural Communications Course begins today. Pray for new members learning how to live and work in a cross-cultural situation. 23. GILLBT* director Justin Frempong is thankful for the water tanker truck provided, in part, by gifts from JAARS donors. “Now we will not have to waste precious time hunting for a tanker to bring us water, but can spend the time promoting Bible translation and the use of the Scriptures in Ghana.” 28. Praise God that pilot Joy Carrera, after a required waiting period of three years, passed her final evaluation for an aviation mechanic's license. 29. Praise God for all those working in literacy and vernacular media who help make the Scriptures available to many who otherwise would not be able to read the translated Word. 30.
