Awaken the Dawn Awaken the Dawn

by Doris B. Wolfe

Can two hearts, torn by separate losses, learn to love again?

Lisa Andersen gave in to God’s call to teach at a remote, jungle school in South America for one year. Wasn’t that good enough? Why was God asking more of her than her heart could give?

Pilot Mike Osborne was still healing from his wife’s tragic death. It wasn’t easy to juggle his flying job with rearing two kids. He was managing, even if he did have to rely on other missionaries a lot. But did that give them a right to play matchmaker?

Were Lisa and Mike ready to deal with their hidden fears?

Doris B. Wolfe and her pilot/mechanic husband served as missionaries in South America for more than thirteen years. They currently work at the Wycliffe/JAARS center in North Carolina.

Christian Heroes: Then and Now

by Janet and Geoff Benge

chronicles the exciting, challenging, and deeply touching true stories of ordinary men and women whose trust in God accomplished extraordinary exploits for His kingdom and glory.

Jim Elliot (1927-1956)
“He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.” Jim Elliot and his coworkers surrendered their lives in Ecuador’s jungle, trusting that their sacrifice would not be in vain. Decades later, this dramatic event has challenged countless Christians to live with one great purpose: to bring the gospel to those who have never heard.
Betty Green (1920-1997)
As a young girl growing up on the shores of Lake Washington, Betty Greene had two passions: a love for Christ and a love of flying. As a young World War II WASP pilot, Betty dreamed of combining her two passions by using wings to serve God. Betty’s dream became reality when she helped found the Mission Aviation Fellowship.
David Livingston
Nate Saint (1923-1956)
Nate Saint’s air-service ministry to isolated missionaries put him on a path of destiny that would ultimately end with a final airplane flight with four missionary friends to the “Palm Beach” landing strip in the jungles of Ecuador. The men’s lives given that day not only opened a door to the gospel for the unreached “Aucas”; it has been said that possibly no single event of the twentieth century awakened more hearts to God’s call to serve in missions.
Cameron Townsend
The Cakchiquel man became indignant when Cam offered him a tract in Spanish. “Do you have one in Cakchiquel?” he asked. “There are none, I'm sorry.” replied Cam. “Well,” retorted the man, “if your God is so great, why can’t he speak my language?”

In one decisive moment, Cameron Townsend understood that God had called him to translate the Bible into the language of his Guatemalan friends.

In the Image of God (soft cover)

by Hyatt Moore and artists of Wycliffe Bible Translators

The evidence is all around us. It was not a human idea that we were created in the image of God; He himself declared it, providing for us a solid self-concept—not to mention a high role model. The evidence abounds on the surface and below the surface—particularly below the surface. In the Image of God focuses on some of the less noticed but obvious qualities of God’s likeness found in every one of us, while portraying people from around the world whom God loves and we care about. This is done through the artistry of 52 Wycliffe Bible Translators members, family and friends who, along with their service of many kinds, can handle a brush.

Under His Wing

by Bernie May

“It’s hard to tell whether I’ve learned more about flying from my time with God, or more about God from my experiences in an airplane. One thing is certain, however. During my thirty years as a missionary pilot, I have discovered the validity of certain biblical principles—principles concerning forgiveness, compassion, obedience, justice and faith.

“This book is a collection of exciting little stories, most of which have to do with lessons I learned in the air that will teach you how to live by faith. Especially on cloudy days.”
