Construction and Maintenance

Mission Statement

CAM facilitates Bible translation by providing quality personnel and services to assist in the development, construction, maintenance and management of facilities for language and support teams.

Construction and Maintenance (CAM) personnel enable the translation process to move ahead by performing services that most translation teams could not easily do for themselves, or that would take vital time away from their translation work.
These might include building a house in a village, providing a solar electric system, installing a clean water collection system, constructing simple furniture, or maintaining their generator and vehicle. Sometimes the project is a more substantial one, such as building support facilities or designing and clearing an airstrip. CAM workers in the field often work side by side with the local people, teaching them useful construction and maintenance skills.

At JAARS, CAM orientees receive training in a variety of trades, maximizing their usefulness in field assignments. Assignments overseas usually involve supervising or helping train nationals in construction and maintenance activities.

In addition, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, mechanics and others work to keep the many buildings and vehicles on the JAARS center operating well.

Carpenters, electricians, welders, plumbers, and mechanics are just a few of the technical specialists needed to keep homes and center facilities (both stateside and overseas) operational.

How do I Become Involved?

JAARS has no members. Wycliffe personnel are assigned to JAARS or receive training at JAARS in order to take an overseas assignment.

Work on the Wycliffe team is not traditional employment. All those involved must trust God to provide their financial support through the gifts of churches and individuals.
